    Description

    Genuine Cherokee (Eastern Band) Basket
    Material:  White Oak (Dyed with native plant dyes including walnut, blood root and yellow root)
    Type:  Oval Rib Split with Single Handle
    Size:  5" wide, 4" deep, 3 1/2" tall
    Maker:  I bought this basket myself from Dolly Taylor, but I do not have written provenance of this.  I lived about an  hour from Cherokee and went frequently as I enjoyed collecting their beautiful baskets.  I got to meet many of the basket makers back in the day, but I did not always get my baskets signed or keep the store sales card.  Just loved using and displaying the baskets.  Most of my baskets were purchased in the 1980's; I am now paring down my collection and hope to find good homes for them.  They have always been in a smoke-free home.
