Up for auction, at the Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio is a Vintage ANNETTE HIMSTEDT 26" ELLEN, a Puppen Kinder Girl Doll, Number 3418 from the “Barefoot Children” series 1986. It was in West Germany that artist Annette Himstedt began creating some of the world’s most magnificent dolls. The listed Himstedt doll, Ellen, was on display in the original owner’s Doll Museum and is in excellent condition. Created in 1986, Ellen is a vinyl, life-like doll from the “Barefoot Children” series. She has blue eyes, braided blonde hair, and a shy smile. Meticulously detailed, Ellen has human hair and eyelashes, and an exquisitely hand-painted face. The 4 pieces of Ellen’s clothing, gray dress, floral pinafore, starched slip, and 1-piece undergarment, have the Annette Himstedt signature label. In-mold, on the back of her neck, is the name, ELLEN. Further down is the in-mold signature of the artist. Included are the articles of clothing that the original owner added to her Ellen display: a CHER AMI’S BONNETS MILLIE HUENE Victorian bonnet, and a pair of white socks and shoes. Despite successful designs and top awards, Annette Himstedt closed her factory in 2008. Locating her dolls, particularly those from the 1980s, is challenging. Review photographs for details.
